Dhananjayrao Gadgil Institute of Co-operative Management (DGICM), Nagpur was established in the year 1972 to cater to the training requirements of personnel working in cooperative organizations and cooperative departments of Maharashtra State. As a tribute the Institute is named after the late Dr. Dhananjayrao Gadgil, the distinguished economist, Co-operator and former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Government of India. It is one among the 19 Institutes, functioning in different parts of the country, under the administrative control of the National Council for Cooperative Training (NCCT), New Delhi. It is a 50 per cent grant-in-aid organization of Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, New Delhi and 50 percent grant-in-aid from Government of Maharashtra, Department of Cooperation. Since its inception, all endeavors are being made to cater the cooperative training requirements of the State. Seminars, Workshops and Conferences are being organized on cooperative related issues. The syllabus of the core courses of this Institute has been developed by Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. The main objective of the Institute is to induction of professionalism in management of cooperatives.

Dhananjayrao Gadgil Institute of Cooperative Management established in the year 1972 with consent of the Government of Maharashtra and Government of India to provide Cooperative Training, Education and Consultancy to the personnel working in Cooperative Institutions of Maharashtra state and Cooperative Department of Government of Maharashtra.

Apart from providing need based Cooperative Training, Education and Consultancy services, the Institute also undertakes recruitment activities for the Cooperative Organizations.

In recent time to address the changes taking place in the cooperative and corporate sector our Institute diversified its activities and started MBA programme affiliated to RSTM, Nagpur University with the approval of AICTE, New Delhi and DTE, Mumbai.

Finally, here I mention that, the Institute bagged number of awards for its best performance in Training, Development, Hindi Rajbhasha and also accredited with ‘B’ grade by C-PEC, BIRD, Lucknow, NIOS, New Delhi.

The above achievements of the Institute are a sum result of team efforts, guidance and support of Chairman as well as Members of Management Committee, DGICM, Nagpur and also the timely and proper support of Chairman, Director General and Secretary of NCCT, New Delhi.
